The First Time

Nothing interesting has happened the last couple of days, so I guess I'll just post about the first time I went to the land of Renolia.  (more after the jump)

It was the middle of October.  The air was starting to chill in preparation for the winter that never happened, and the wind was blowing.  Against my better judgement, I decided to go for a walk.  I wandered deep into the woods and lost the path I was on.

At first I didn't notice anything was different.  It was only when I noticed myself taking off my sweatshirt that I realized the temperature had risen about twenty degrees.  I wandered aimlessly until I found something resembling a path and followed it out of the forest.

A man was standing guard at the edge of the forest.  He was dressed head to toe in steel armor and equipped with a lance.  Looking at me through the slits in his helmet, he said "Halt!  Who goes there and from where do you hail?"

I said "My name is Tim, I just came from the other side of the forest."

"Intruders are not welcome here.  You are under arrest and will be brought before Her Highness for sentencing."

Figuring his speed in that armor was no match for mine, I started running back the way I came.  The guard shouted something in a language I've never heard before.  I turned around in time to see a rope fly towards me and tie itself around me.  I was no longer able to run.  The guard calmly walked over to where I was and dragged me all the way to the nearest town and into the castle at the center.  He dropped me on the ground in what appeared to be a throne room, right in front of a seated woman wearing a crown.  She said "What is the meaning of this?"

The guard replied "I found him coming out of the Otherworldly Forest.  Looking at his attire, I'd say he came from Earth."

"Untie him at once."  The guard said a few words and the rope returned to his hand.  Continuing, the woman said "Explain yourself.  Why are you here?"

I said "Honestly?  I have no idea.  I was just out for a walk and I ended up here.  Sorry if I caused you any trouble."

The guard hit me in the back of the head with the side of his lance, knocking me to the ground.  He said "You are speaking with the princess.  You will address her as Her Highness or not at all."

I picked myself up off the ground.  The princess said "Assault our guest again and I will see to it that your head is removed from your shoulders."

The guard looked shocked.  "Guest?  He's an intruder!"

"Have you forgotten the prophecy?"

The guard sighed.  "No, Your Highness, I merely forgot that you are the one person in the kingdom that actually believes that old superstition."

"Um, excuse me," I say, "But what prophecy are you talking about?"
